Britz Elite 2 berth - Terms & Conditions

Terms and Conditions after 1/4/2008

Note: For security purposes Backpacker, Britz and Maui only accept credit cards to provide a security deposit. The credit card holder must be present and be able to sign for the security deposit upon vehicle collection. The credit card holder is jointly and severally liable for any damage to the rental vehicle. If a credit isn’t presented upon pick-up the client will be denied to rent the Campervan and full cancellation fees will be applied.

Rates/Minimum Hire Periods:
* Rates are per day in NZ$ and include unlimited kilometres & GST (New Zealand Government Tax)
* Minimum rental period is 5 days with the following exceptions: Minimum rental period is 10 days for hires with a collection date between 23 December and 10 January. Minimum rental period is 10 days when a vehicle is being collected from the North Island and is being returned to the South Island if the rental commences between the months of October through to March.

Drivers/Licences
A full resident country driver's licence, held for at least one year, is to be presented at the time of rental. If the licence is not in English format, an international driver's licence is also required. Drivers must be 21 years of age or over. A medical certificate stating that the customer is fit to drive the vehicle they have booked for the duration of the hire is required for drivers over the age of 75.

Transfers/Vehicle Pickup
Complimentary transfers from Auckland and Christchurch Domestic and International Airports to rental branch and back to Airport. Shuttle bus runs every 45 minutes. In Queenstown all vehicles dispatched from Airport Depot. Wellington depot is located approximately 30 minutes from airport and 20 minutes from city centre.

Depots/Pickup Points:
Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Queenstown.
If picking up or dropping of in Wellington NZ$200 location fee will apply (if pick up/drop off occurs in same city, one fee applies).
If picking up or dropping of in Queenstown a NZ$200 location fee will apply (if pick up/drop off occurs in same city, one fee applies).

One Way Drop Off Fee
A one-way rental fee of NZ$220 is charged for rentals between the North and South Island (and vice versa), where pick up is between 01 October and 31 March.

Extra Driver Fee
Extra driver Fee of NZ$3 per day (maximum charge NZ$150) applies per additional driver.
*This fee is not applicable to Australian and New Zealand residents.

Diesel Tax Recovery Fee
For every 100kms you pay NZ$4.70

Personal Kit
Britz Campervans do not come with bedding or linen. You can hire a Personal Kit which includes a towel, pillow, pillow case, sleeping bag, bed sheet and tea towel for NZ$35 per client per hire booked at the time of reservation.
*For Australian and New Zealand residents the personal kits are included in the standard rate.

Insurance
Standard Insurance
The hirer is liable for the first NZ$7,500 (Excess Liability) of any damage caused in each and every accident/break-in etc. The Excess Liability is taken at the beginning of the hire (If paying by Credit Card the amount will be debited). Reduction options are covered below.

Excess Reduction Option 1
Excess Reduction Option 1 Insurance is an optional extra at a fixed rate of NZ$20 per day (max. NZ$1000) This reduces the Excess Liability to NZ$2,500 of any damage caused in each and every accident (debited). *Exclusions apply, see below.

Excess Reduction Option 2 - International Residents
Excess Reduction Option 2 Insurance is an optional extra at a fixed rate of NZ$38 per day (max. NZ$ 1900). This reduces the Excess Liability to zero for any damage caused in each and every accident. A security bond of NZ$220 still applies (imprint). *Exclusions apply, see below.

Excess Reduction Option 2 - Australian and New Zealand Residents
Excess Reduction Option 2 Insurance is an optional extra at a fixed rate of NZ$35 per day (max. NZ$ 1750). This reduces the Excess Liability to zero for any damage caused in each and every accident. A security bond of NZ$220 still applies (imprint). *Exclusions apply, see below.

No Worries Cover
This option made available at the depot at vehicle pick up time.
Hirers who purchase Excess Reduction Option 2 insurance can also take out the "No Worries Cover" option, for a one off flat fee of NZ$50. This option covers you for overhead and underbody damage. Note that overhead and underbody damage cover is excluded unless No Worries Cover option has been purchased. No Worries Cover included in the Britz Bonus pack.

Britz Bonus Pack - International Residents
The Britz Bonus Pack component of NZ$53 per day (maximum NZ$2,650 per rental) is payable in addition to the daily rental rate.
Inclusions are: Excess Reduction Option 2 (Nil excess), PCO2 (No Worries Cover Option), Diesel Tax Recovery fee, PGO (Pre-purchase gas option), 1 Personal Kit per person, Table and chairs (chairs per person travelling), Child/booster seat (if required, must be pre-booked), Extra driver fees.

Britz Bonus Pack - Australian and New Zealand Residents
The Britz Bonus Pack component of NZ$50 per day (maximum NZ$2,500 per rental) is payable in addition to the daily rental rate.
Inclusions are: Excess Reduction Option 2 (Nil excess), PCO2 (No Worries Cover Option), Diesel Tax Recovery fee, PGO (Pre-purchase gas option), Table and chairs (chairs per person travelling), Child/booster seat (if required, must be pre-booked).
*Exclusions apply, see below

*Exclusions
All insurance cover will be made void if any of the following ‘Exclusions’ are breached:
1. Overhead and underbody damage to the vehicle – except where No Worries cover has been purchased.
2. Any water related damage including but not limited to: any vehicle submersion; creek or river crossing; driving through flooded areas; beach driving
3. Personal belongings. Maui recommends hirer does not leave valuables in the vehicle and have insurance for the loss/damage of personal belongings.
4. Any damage caused by willful misconduct (e.g. sitting or standing on the bonnet or roof of the vehicle).
5. Single vehicle rollover occurs
6. Any damage caused while driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
7. The Customer will be liable for any cost associated with the incorrect use of fuel or the use of Bio-Diesel which should not be used (fuel being diesel or petrol), or water or other contamination of fuel.
8. The cost to retrieve or recover a vehicle, which may include, but is not limited to a vehicle that has become bogged, submerged or abandoned
9. The cost to replace keys, which have been lost or retrieval of keys, which have been locked in a vehicle.
10. The vehicle rented may only be used to carry the maximum number of passengers as dictated by the vehicle type. If more passengers are carried than what is allowed Maui does not accept any liability.
11. Drivers not identified on the rental agreement and/or drivers that have a licence that has been cancelled or suspended and/or drivers who have a licence that is classified as a learners or probationary licence.

Bond
Hirers with Standard Insurance must pay a bond of NZ$ 7,500 at the commencement of hire unless one or more of the above options has been taken. Payment must be made prior to the commencement of the hire by credit card. Credit cards will be debited immediately (unless otherwise stated) and refunded at the end of the hire as appropriate. For this reason it is important that the hirer have the funds available on the credit card and that the amount does not exceed the hirer's daily withdrawal allowance available on the credit card.

Clients are advised to take out travel insurance to cover personal injury, medical costs and personal property.

General Conditions
The Company reserve the right to make deductions over and above the bond for any of, or multiples of the following:

Missing or damaged equipment. The vehicle is not returned in a clean condition. Speeding or parking fines. There will be no refund for vehicle returns before the due date, or unused rental days.

Hired vehicle operated outside the terms on the rental agreement have no insurance cover and the hirer is liable for the entire cost of damage.

Deposit
A deposit of 25% of the total hire cost is payable to secure a booking. This is calculated on 25% of the daily hire tarrif times the number of days of the hire. All remaining hire cost's payable at Depot.
